French Toast Smothered in Pear Syrup

On Weekend Morning sometimes it is great to wake up and make a warm yummy breakfast to fill your tummy to get off to a running start especially this time of the year when the day if filled with tons of snow play or maybe shopping. This is a great French Toast recipe to get you headed on your way out the door with a warm full tummy.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 slice lemon zest
  • 4 cups pears, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Spiced Pumpkin Flapjacks

What You Need:

  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • 2 TBSP brown sugar
  • 1 TBSP baking powder
  • 1 1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 C milk
  • 1/2 C pumpkin puree
  • 1 lg. egg
  • 2 TBSP canola oil

How to Make It:

  1. Place the flour in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the brown sugar and baking powder and toss to combine.
  3. Sprinkle in the pumpkin spice and salt and toss again making sure all the ingredients are incorporated together.

A Sunday Brunch Delight

What You Need:

  • 1 TBSP chili powder
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 2 1/2 lb center cut ham steak about 1 1/2 inches thick
  • 1 TBSP unsalted butter, melted

How to Make It:

  1. In a small bowl blend together the chili powder, oregano, brown sugar, cayenne and pepper.
  2. Brush both sides of the ham steak with the melted butter.
  3. Sprinkle both sides with the chili powder mixture being sure to press into the meat.

Whole Wheat Apple Flapjacks

I will admit this is not the healthiest of recipes but it is a yummy way to start the day or add to a buffet style brunch.

What You Need:

  • 32 soft caramels
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 C unsalted butter
  • 2 Gala apples, peeled and diced fine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 TBSP light brown sugar, packed firm
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 C all purpose flour
  • 1 C whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Cinnamon Pumpkin Waffles

Now that the days are turning cooler what a great way to start the mornings, topped with the Yummy
Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Syrup that I shared a few days ago this is a great yummy breakfast for the start of any day.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  2. 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  3. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  4. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  5. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  6. 1 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  7. 4 large eggs, beaten
  8. 1 cup milk
  9. 1 cup buttermilk
  10. 1/4 cup butter, melted
  11. 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin
