When the crock-pot was first introduced in 1971, it totally revolutionized the way we cook meals. While the word Crock-Pot is actually trademarked by Rival Industries, it is used in every day conversations instead of the term slow cooker. The crock-pot not only is a safe way to leave cooking meals unattended many of the recipes take very little time in preparation. This makes it a convenient cooking method for today’s busy families.
Choosing to use a Crock-pot not only saves time cooking it also save you money.
1. No Drive Thru. Often times we get rushed and if there isn’t something preparing at home, chances increases that running to a fast food restaurant is usually the quickest way to get the family fed. On average a fast food meal for a family of four costs over $20.
2. Stretching your dollar. You can really stretch your dollar with crock-pot meals; you can pop in a whole chicken, have dinner then use the rest of the chicken for another meal.
3. Cutting your grocery budget. You can save money at the butcher since the slow cooking process is especially useful to tenderize cheaper cuts of meat. I rarely buy expensive meat, Test runs with the family both came out tender and juicy out of the crock-pot and the family enjoyed the meals the same. So why spend more on meat if you don’t have to.
4. Lowering the energy bill. Instead of running a larger appliance like the stove you are running one small energy conservative appliance, the crock-pot, saving on your energy costs.
The convenience of the slow cooker not only saves you time, but will also save you money. Don’t you think it’s time to take it out of your closet (or wherever you have it packed away collecting dust) and make a Crock-Pot meal today?
